As we move closer to our launch date, we are looking for a Director of Finance. This role is part of the Management team at Mitte. Your focus areas will be to oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks and help the management team to launch in Germany and the US via a Direct-To-Consumer model. At Mitte, we work in cross-functional teams, which require clear communications and a collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of deep operational know-how, business leadership, strategic thinking, and analytical problem-solving. While creating and maintaining operational excellence. The team has >90 people in Berlin and globally with a second office opening in New York at the beginning of 2022. Mitte has permanently shifted to a decentralized hybrid work model. **Your Contribution** Scale-up systems and processes * Oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks * Develop budgets that meet the requirements of company departments * Monitor and improve financial systems to support the business growth * Prepare the organization for international expansion and implement scalable processes and introduce relevant digital tools * Responsible for the further development of controlling processes Financial Planning and Analysis * Drive the financial planning of the company with input from the other different teams (outputs are budgets and forecasts and longer-term business plans ) * Controlling: analyze the financial performance and deviations to budget. Prepare monthly financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders (directors of cost centers, management team, and investors) * Make recommendations on allocations of resources or business cases to the management team and directors * Monitor cash levels and cash burn Audit * Oversee all audit and internal control operations HR administration * Support People and Culture in the operational HR processes - such as payroll (interface with an external provider) or contractual arrangements Legal * Co-responsible for insurance * Support contract negotiations from a legal and financial perspective, with the support of external lawyers Management responsibilities * Two employees (one finance officer and one accountant) and one interning student * Further development and improvement of the finance team **Your Profile** * You have 6-8 years of professional experience in the field of finance in a leadership position (director level) * You are highly analytic, you can solve complex problems and can deal with uncertainty * You have excellent communication skills to present in writing and verbally the results of your analyses * You can suggest simple and agile processes and are able to implement them within the organization * Ideally, you have professional experience gained with a Big 4 or other certified public accountants / financial advisor * You have experience building and scaling a finance function in an international environment * You have a hands-on mentality - get things done - and are ready to get your hands dirty - you also support your team in operational processes * You are solution-oriented, addressing problems openly and directly * You have experience dealing with banks for financing * You have expertise in HGB and IFRS * You are fluent in English and German * You enjoy working in teams and are excited to work in a dynamic and international environment * You are ambitious and excited about Mitte’s mission * You based or willing to move to Berlin **Why Mitte?** Our culture and values are central to Mitte's philosophy.
