### Job description Associate Creative Director - Core Design System College Board – Design Team Remote, Hybrid, or New York The College Board is looking for an Associate Creative Director to manage and build on the future of our core design system. You will also oversee the design direction of our student-facing College search and prep platform and develop user-friendly designs, interactions, and interfaces for our audience. You will collaborate closely with the Creative Director, fellow design team members, product leads, and engineering partners to conceptualize, ideate, design, and deliver creative solutions that achieve business goals and serve user needs. In this role your responsibilities can be allocated by: Design & Implementation (60%) Manage and own an evolving College Board atomic design system Plan out work (phases and activities that are needed), delegate with designers, and coordinate with product leads in an agile cadence Lead the further visual identity development for our growing college planning tools. Work hands-on within a fast-paced iterative design environment. Support research and audience validation efforts, developing prototypes and testing artifacts to determine the success of your design approaches in real world situations. Educate staff on our design system Strategy & Communication (20%) Lead the strategic ideation and visual design from start to finish within a product team of visual and user-experience designers. Collaborate with UX and content strategy leads to implement branding and visual direction across a range of digital experiences. Partner closely with the lead engineer of the core system to design and build out and evolve our atomic system Develop strong stories to present and communicate design strategy to stakeholders, and team members. Team Management (20%) Mentor and art direct members of the visual design team in order to develop consistent user experiences across products Coordinate with product leads, design team, and engineers to ensure timely delivery of design artifacts. Help foster an environment for collaboration by partnering with business and other creative units to align our visual design approach with project goals, and the College Board brand. About you You have: A portfolio of your work included in your application. Hands-on experience in design or interaction design for agency or in-house teams. Advanced understanding of visual design systems, hierarchy, typography, aesthetics, illustration, photography, and composition. A solid understanding of UI design principles and best practices Experience with designing web-based applications and tools, with a background in designing dashboards, systems, and complex UI. Experience working with brand level design systems. Pixel perfect attention to detail. Appetite for problem solving and a love for fast-paced environments. Demonstrable experience designing for large-scale, omni-channel applications. Sharp design sensibilities, critical thinking, and an eye for details. Fluency in creating visual content for mobile, responsive design. Experience in, familiarity with working in agile, or iterative design and delivery environments. Familiarity with user-centered research, such as usability testing, contextual inquiry, and field interviews. Experience in designing for accessibility. Mastery of industry standard design tools, e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, et al.
