At the Celo Foundation we partner with organizations across the Celo ecosystem including partnering with cLabs, the team working on the open source platform Celo, whose mission is to build a financial system that creates the conditions for prosperity for all. Celo aims to remove the barriers for large-scale adoption of cryptocurrencies as means-of-payment. Using a novel address-based encryption algorithm, the Celo protocol makes sending money as easy as sending a text. Additionally, Celo uses stable-value tokens pegged to fiat currencies, like the US Dollar, to minimize volatility. Celo is an open protocol enabling many to participate in the system, even with a budget Android smartphone. The first application launched on the Celo platform, Valora, is a social payments and money transfer app, aimed at developing markets. As the Global Developer Events Manager, you will be responsible for identifying key events Celo should sponsor, attend, and speak at. You Will: --------- * Drive Celo’s global developer event and hackathon strategy. * Design detailed developer event plans including the scope, theme, venues, and budgets. * Create and run global activations supporting focusing on Celo’s mobile-first technology. * Draft blog posts, tweets and produce other marketing material to raise awareness and build excitement for developer-focused events. * Scout venues and online platforms. * Manage event and production logistics. * Speaker and sponsor management, inviting ecosystem partners. * Create engaging post-event media and content that highlight participants and winners. You Have: --------- * Experience running developer events - both online and offline. * A proven track record of organization and project management skills. * The experience of having run events from top to bottom. * Experience working across timezones with partners positioned around the world. * Be proactive, independent, and creative - you are not afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and initiate new activities. * Familiarity with blockchain communities and the communication and social channels most used by them. However, you do not need to be an expert on the subject matter. * Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communicator. * A passion for web3 and previous experience in the space. cLabs (“Celo Labs”) started Celo in 2017 and is one of many contributors to the open source project Celo. cLabs builds financial technology to enable prosperity of all beings. cLabs is a Teal organization, a method of decentralized management and organizational governance.
