About Perl Street ================= Perl Street, a YCombinator-backed company, is democratizing structured finance through its platform, unlocking billions in financing for sustainable infrastructure and next-generation hardware technologies. Perl Street has already helped multiple hardware startups receive over $140M in debt financing offers from some of the world’s most reputable institutions. Climate change is a massive hardware problem. According to IEA estimates - reaching net zero emissions would require over $4 trillion per year in global clean energy investment. This means we need to upgrade nearly everything with new hardware - from energy storage devices to electric vehicles, charging stations and building electrification. The future of infrastructure is both distributed and resilient. And none of it is possible without financing new hardware. And you can be a part of it. The Opportunity =============== We are looking for a hands-on senior full stack engineer to help form the founding engineering team. You’ll be working directly with the CTO, and have an opportunity to scale with us, including receiving equity at an early stage with a rapidly growing company. We're looking for an engineer who will help build out our core systems, starting with our web platform. You'll be building web components, visualizations, and integrations, and contributing to our front-end system, including visualizing data, styling components, assisting in wire frames, and turning mockups into deployable code. As a part of this role, you'll also get exposed to the world of next-generation distributed hardware systems, clean technologies, and the financial metrics and calculations driving these projects forward. What You’ll Do ============== * Assist the CTO in the development of tech product roadmap and feature planning * Assist in code reviews and further scaling of the founding technology team * Take ownership of the front-end web framework using React.js / Redux / Firebase * Visualize internal and 3rd party financial data using charting libraries in React * Work with UI/UX designers to implement visualizations in D3.js or ApexCharts * Turn wireframes and mockups into deployable code * Update older components to Typescript and move to functional components as needed * Develop new features and interactive web components using React and Fomantic (Semantic) UI * Maintain code and write unit tests to ensure quality and minimize errors * Make sure our web app is performant across multiple browsers Qualifications ============== * Knowledge of ES6 syntax and Typescript, class and functional components with React * Experience with state management systems (ideally Redux), with thunks and sagas * Ability to write well-documented, clean and modern Javascript code * Knowledge of functional programming * Ability to interface with internal and external users and translate their requirements into specifications * Bonus: Working with visualization and mockup tools like Sketch or Adobe XD or Figma * Bonus: Style and design-centric thinking * Bonus: Experience working at a fintech startup? Tell us about it! * Bonus: CSS samurai? Show us something beautiful you have built Benefits ======== * Equity compensation at a post-seed YC-backed startup * Exposure to an incredible network of climate and hardware companies (our customers) * Fully remote team – but if you’re in Austin, you’ll get the best of both worlds * Flexible work hours: We care about how much you get done - not how much you work or when you do it * Equipment support: $1000 to set up your home office and ensure you have the equipment you need to do your job well * Unlimited paid vacation: People at Perl Street can take as many days off as they need - and we strongly encourage to do so * Health Insurance: We either pay or give support towards health insurance (depending on where you live and what you need) * Self-development budget: We allocate a budget to each team member to ensure we all have the best opportunities to develop
