**Who we are and what drives us** At THE CLIMATE CHOICE, we are enabling companies in all industries to drastically reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through data-driven decision-making. Our SaaS platform makes climate data in the supply chain accessible and thus enables transparency and improved cooperation between customers and suppliers. Our mission is to drive down GHG emissions by at least 50% in supply chains across all industries by 2030. We founded the company in April 2020 to deliver the largest critical impact on climate change for businesses using software and data. **We work in a results-oriented and supportive way, in a workplace where:** * Everyone on the team is valued, trusted and heard. * We grow and learn continually. * Integrity is a core value that guides our work and behavior. * Remote work is a strength and not a compromise. * Happiness is a team goal in itself. **What you can expect** As our first Senior Backend Developer, you will play a key role in helping us build the world's leading climate rating platform. Join us in building the service and infrastructure that enables companies to massively improve their climate performance and take our software to the next level. **What you will be responsible for:** * Participate in every stage of our B2B data platform’s development lifecycle from design to implementation, testing, rollout and making everything run smoothly. * Work collaboratively with us to build an end-to-end product from an early stage up, alongside colleagues from different disciplines, and guided by needs and insights learned from our customers. * Own the planning, development and maintenance of new services and features of our web app. * Be a team player, act as a mentor to our Junior developers and write documentation of your work to ease knowledge transfer. * Maintain and operate our infrastructure together with our DevOps specialist, write well-tested code and drive the improvement of development and release processes. **Your qualifications & qualities** * You are very experienced and comfortable developing production web services and RESTful APIs in Python (ideally around four years of experience). * You want to develop yourself into a team-lead role and enjoy helping out when Junior Developers need your help. * You are experienced in working with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL and MySQL. Additional experience with ETL pipelines is a plus. * You have worked with cloud infrastructures and containerized services before. * You are autonomous and have the ability to plan and implement high-quality projects on your own. * You love taking ownership in an environment, where requirements can change rapidly and where your work is characterized by independence and personal responsibility. * You score extra points if you are familiar with SaaS infrastructure, Django, Docker, or have experience in DevOps. * You can read, write, and speak professional English, as this is our main working language. **What we offer you** * Climate-driven purpose: You are part of an international team where everyone is motivated to make the world sustainable now and for the future. * Remote working: You can work from anywhere in Germany and we pay your membership in a coworking space. * Employee Benefits: You will receive an allowance for your Urban Sports Club membership, travel ticket or a bike. You also benefit from additional sustainable offers via our employee benefits platform. * Open feedback culture: You get regular and honest feedback that is focused on your individual learning success. * Team events: You can enjoy regular team get-togethers and offsite meetings in Berlin. We are aware that perfection doesn't fall from the sky and you always have the opportunity to improve. Therefore, we encourage you to apply even if your profile does not meet all the requirements for this position. Diversity, equality and inclusion are fundamental to us and we are constantly working to improve them. We want to create a workplace that promotes and values diversity in terms of age, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and physical or mental ability. If we made you curious and you would like to work with us, then please send us your CV and a short cover letter. If you have a link to your GitHub account or a project you'd like to share, feel free to do so. A photo and date of birth are not necessary.
