Ambassador Labs is solving interesting problems for cloud native developers in the Kubernetes space. We are looking to hire a Developer Advocate that cares as much about open source and empowering developers to deliver software safely and rapidly as we do, and who also embraces the cloud native phenomenon that is taking over the world. Ambassador Labs (formerly Datawire) focuses on creating tools and platforms that enable developers to code, ship, and run applications faster and easier than ever. We are the original creators and stewards of several [Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)](https://thenewstack.io/cncf-adopts-ambassadors-api-gateway-emissary-ingress/) open source projects, including [Emissary-ingress](https://www.getambassador.io/use-case/kubernetes-ingress/) (formerly Ambassador API Gateway) and [Telepresence](https://www.getambassador.io/products/telepresence/). We have also created the Ambassador Labs [Developer Control Plane](https://containerjournal.com/features/ambassador-labs-brings-order-to-cloud-native-toolchains/) (DCP) for Kubernetes that integrates the development, deployment, and production workflows for developers and organizations worldwide, including Microsoft, PTC, NVidia, and Ticketmaster. Ambassador Labs is backed by top investors including Insight Partners, Matrix Partners, Trinity Ventures, and Four Rivers Group. As a Developer Advocate at Ambassador Labs, you will play a key role in working with, growing, and educating our rapidly expanding community. Through thoughtful interactions, your mission is to help spread the word about Ambassador Labs and gather feedback on our open source and commercial products to help the organization build tools and platforms that developers love. Your teammates will be highly technical and place an emphasis on effective communication and collaboration. We all have a strong belief that investing in software development communities is critical to the company’s success. ### Here are a few examples of what our team has put together for the community: + [Summer of Kubernetes](https://www.getambassador.io/summer-of-k8s/): Our free training program for developers new to K8s and cloud + [Cloud Native Development without the Toil](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_HG4UtCAmw): A GOTOCon talk that shares our vision and recommendations for creating an effective cloud native toolchain for developers + [Emissary-ingress 101](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xsrb83OJD0): An overview of our API gateway that we donated to the CNCF, which was presented as part of our community AmbassadorFest event We know it is important for you to believe in the products you work with and advocate for. Check out the 3 minute demo video and quickstart of our CNCF-donated [Telepresence](https://www.getambassador.io/docs/telepresence/latest/quick-start/) tool, an open source product that has gained incredible traction with the cloud development community. ### What you will do: + Engage with our community, users, and customers in order to to understand their current challenges, workflows, and use cases + Teach and empower developers about our products and the wider ecosystem of cloud native open source tools through different modes of communication (e.g. writing, tutorials, video, live streaming, podcasting). + Build and nurture relationships with newcomers, champions, community leaders alike + Develop example applications and proof-of-concept solutions that you will present at in-house events, meetups, and international conferences. + Contribute to the direction of our developer strategy with your industry experience, relationships, and knowledge of developer best practices, trends and concepts. + Collaborate with teams across the organization, from growth marketing to engineering. + Gain industry recognition and opportunities to develop your personal brand as a go-to expert in the cloud native developer experience space. ### Requirements: + Previous experience of driving adoption of technical products and/or open source tooling. + Relationship building experience. Perhaps you are a support engineer, or run a developer community, or have been a sales engineer in a past role. + Publicly available writing samples, live streams, or recordings of presentations on technical topics. + Excellent planning and organisational skills, and the ability to deliver to deadlines. + You are comfortable and familiar with the CLI, YAML, and modern infrastructure such as cloud services and containers. + If you are a junior candidate looking to get into DevRel, a bachelors degree in Computer Science is required. + Any prior experience of working within the CNCF community would be a plus, such as presenting at KubeCon, participating in a WG or SIG, or contributing to a CNCF project. Developers are changing the world. Empowered developers that can code, ship, and run their software can change the world faster. Join us to help make this a reality for the developers that are working at the thousands of organizations adopting cloud native ways of working. Our leadership team comes from the likes of Rapid7, New Relic, Google, Salesforce, Blue Prism, and Red Hat, to name a few. Headquartered in Boston, MA, Ambassador Labs is committed to a remote working culture and has satellite offices located around the world including in Portland (Oregon), Canada, the UK, and Europe. We strongly believe that Ambassador Labs’ success is dependent on hiring a diverse team. Diversity means a broader spectrum of opinions, ways of working and approaches to solving problems; we feel it is critical to helping drive the creativity, innovation and sound decision-making our customers love us for! **How to Apply** We are looking forward to hearing from you. We move quickly and decisively. We don’t need to talk to 20 other candidates to make a decision, so if the fit feels right on both sides, you can be part of the team as soon as next week! The first step is speaking to our People Person, followed by the leadership team, and then a few of your future colleagues/team members. Interviews are typically 30 - 45 minutes, all remote. We’ll talk through your background, your approach to work, and dive into your knowledge. We want to hear about your real-life experience and successes, especially the users that you’ve made happy.
