### Job description Role Summary: TTI Floor Care is home to some of the world's best known floor care brands - Hoover, Dirt Devil, and Oreck. Our dynamic team, located in Charlotte, North Carolina is passionate about creating innovative products through a user centered design approach. At TTI Floor Care you will work closely with product management, consumer insights and engineering to generate unique solutions that solve consumer frustrations. As a member of the Industrial Design team you will have the opportunity to work across brands and categories in the consumer and commercial industries. The fast-paced work is rewarding and covers the entire range of corded and cordless floor care appliances. As a Senior Industrial Designer you will work directly with cross functional teams from project start to mass production to bring compelling product solutions to market. This highly creative individual must be able to gather complex inputs and utilize the design process in a fast paced, dynamic environment to create products which satisfy the business objectives. The perfect candidate for this role lives and breathes design, has a natural empathy for end users, excels in creative problem solving, and has an endless curiosity for how things work. Essential Responsibilities: • Design leadership role on individual projects • Provide coaching and thought leadership on design process and execution to the broader design team • Identify end user needs through various research methods • Creatively problem solve for identified user needs with prototyping and rigorous user testing • Integrate relevant research and insights into design goals and project scope • Work closely with cross functional team to define project criteria in order to support business objectives • Tactically adapt and tailor the design process to the specific project or business need • Develop concepts which accommodate usability, performance requirements and brand language • Design within the constraints of manufacturing and cost • Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously • Define the design intent and work closely with engineering to maintain it through product launch • Evaluate and analyze the marketplace and competition • Stay current on color, material, and cultural trends that help drive product design Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design • 5 + years designing for manufactured consumer goods • Highly effective problem solver and creative thinker • Able to design and develop new products through strategic thinking and process • Strong ability to rapidly communicate ideas through 2D drawings • Very capable of communicating complex ideas through 3D modeling • Proven ability to demonstrate end user experiences through physical prototypes • Strong observational skills, end user empathy, and ability to identify insights from qualitative research • Experience applying fundamental ergonomics to product design • Demonstrates strong understanding of aesthetics, design function, and human factors • Demonstrated hands-on experience in a professional product design environment • Thorough experience in product manufacturing and injection molded part design • Ability to articulate subjective ideas in a meaningful and logical manner • Effective at verbally communicating ideas and concepts to management Software: • Highly developed Photoshop, Illustrator and Keyshot skills • Highly capable 3D surface development, parametric CAD experience preferred (Solidworks or Creo) Travel: • Some domestic and international travel is required The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
