At TTI Floor Care you will work closely with product management, consumer insights and engineering to generate unique solutions that solve consumer frustrations. As a member of the Industrial Design team you will have the opportunity to work across brands and categories in the consumer and commercial industries. The fast-paced work is rewarding and covers the entire range of corded and cordless floor care appliances. As a critical part of the Industrial Design team, this Senior Industrial Design Engineer will be a key contributor for breakthrough ideas. You will work directly with cross functional project teams to ensure products meet performance standards, quality expectations and adhere to the essential criteria defined in project briefs. This highly creative and technically proficient individual must be able to challenge paradigms and iteratively create diverse concepts in parallel. After concepts have been vetted for their technical and commercial opportunity, you will build refined, high quality prototypes to be utilized for in-depth user research and be the basis to transition programs to the development engineering team. The perfect candidate for this role has an entrepreneurial mindset, a highly developed technical aptitude, and the ability to take constructive feedback while working collaboratively. Essential Responsibilities: • Assist, advise and support the Industrial Design team throughout concept development • Work with development partners to deliver transformative innovations that can be commercialized • Create mechanical solutions that enhance performance and improve the user experience • Design product architecture through mechanical design solutions • Engineer solutions that are manufacturable and within cost guidelines • Physically build proof-of-concept mock-ups, mechanical subsystems or complete assemblies to evaluate usability and performance • Understand, troubleshoot and prove out manufacturing methods • Generate CAD models and assemblies to evaluate and conceptualize how a product will be constructed • Revise and modify existing CAD files as required throughout the development process • Utilize current test methods and develop new methods as needed to validate performance • Manage multiple projects in parallel Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field • 5 + years designing manufactured consumer goods • 5 + years parametric CAD experience (Solidworks or Creo preferred) • Highly capable problem solver and creative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset • Practical hands-on fabrication skills (hand-tools, power-tools, saws, drill-presses, grinders, etc.) • Experience building functional prototypes to test and validate concepts with team members and end users • Experience with consumer facing product development • Experience in product manufacturing and injection molded part design • Effective verbal and visual communication skills • Capable of collaborating with multiple disciplines including mechanical, electrical and systems engineering • Highly effective at prioritizing tasks and managing deadlines • Experience with Asian manufacturing is preferred
