Help shape the software landscape of Bell Labs by designing system architectures and solution blueprints for Bell Labs research software, creating new architecture principles for emerging software domains and by identifying industry trends and emerging software systems. **The team you'll be part of** Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards. You will be joining the System Architecture and Solution Design (SASD) lab, which is creating software architectures, design patterns and solution blueprints for Bell Labs research software and develops new architecture principles for emerging technology domains. The team is also building the software back-end for Bell Labs research to automate and simplify common research and development tasks. The SASD team has a global footprint with members in the US, France and Germany and collaborates closely with a diverse set of Bell Labs researchers across the globe to create world-class technology innovations, integrated solutions, and proof-of-concept systems. **What you will learn and contribute to** We are looking for passionate system architects, senior software engineers, and software researchers who like to innovate, push boundaries, and create architectures and designs for cutting-edge software systems. As part of our team, you will: * Create software architectures, solution blueprints and design principles for innovative Bell Labs research prototypes, technology demonstrators and customer-facing solutions. * Invent cutting-edge software designs, architectures, and fundamental principles to support new technologies such as high-performance industry 4.0 services, Web3-based systems, and AI-driven applications. * Evaluate architecture and design choices using data traces, simulations and analysis and develop new solutions. * Collaborate with members of Bell Labs research, business units and incubation teams on the development of software systems. Communicate identified architectures, principles, and design visions. * Identify and leverage industry trends, emerging technologies, and notable software systems. **Your skills and experience** You have: * Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related disciplines and 6+ years of relevant professional experience. * Deep understanding of modern software design, cloud-native principles and key enabling software systems and a strong track record of designing and realizing production-scale software systems. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to drive collaborative projects to a successful conclusion. It would be nice if you also had: * Experience in designing software systems in one (or more) of the following areas: Industry 4.0, IoT, highly distributed clouds, AI-based systems, and Web3 designs. * Broad understanding of industry trends, emerging software systems, new design patterns and principles and the desire to explore and learn about new technologies. * You are comfortable in working in distributed teams and dynamic, agile and matrix environments. **What we offer** Nokia offers flexible and hybrid working schemes, continuous learning opportunities, well-being programs to support you mentally and physically, opportunities to join and get supported by employee resource groups, mentoring programs and highly diverse teams with an inclusive culture where people thrive and are empowered. **Nokia is committed to inclusion and is an equal opportunity employer** Nokia has received the following recognitions for its commitment to inclusion & equality: * One of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere * Gender-Equality Index by Bloomberg * Workplace Pride Global Benchmark * LGBT+ equality & best place to work by HRC Foundation At Nokia, we act inclusively and respect the uniqueness of people.
