### Job description COLLABORATIVE ARTS BFA, NYU, TISCH SCHOOL OF THE ARTS Assistant Arts Professor of Emerging Media, Performance, and Technology The Collaborative Arts undergraduate degree program (BFA) of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts seeks two full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Arts Professors to join our faculty beginning Fall 2022. One of these faculty positions is among the new hires in Tisch School of the Arts focused on representation in the arts as part of the NYU Faculty Cluster Hiring Initiative. Collaborative Arts is a new and innovative BFA program within Tisch’s Institute of Performing Arts and is committed to training a new generation of interdisciplinary artists. We believe that a tremendous collage of new ideas exists in the spaces between a diverse and curious student body that is committed to understanding how things work by doing. Exploring these spaces is at the heart of our BFA. We value creative cooperation, theoretical rigor, hands-on experimentation, and whimsy. We prioritize process as a method of self-discovery and often encourage our students to try before they completely understand how or why. Our first year core curriculum introduces students to the fundamentals of movement and acting, visual art and filmmaking, emerging media and technology, music production, playwriting, screenwriting, and art theory. These are followed in subsequent years by artistic practice electives and specialized theme-based interdisciplinary courses where different approaches, disciplines, and theories are intertwined and explored, culminating in a final capstone project. Qualifications: We are seeking imaginative and skilled multidisciplinary artists to join our full-time faculty and lead our students in the exploration of personal and meaningful connections between artistic disciplines. Successful candidates are working professionals and educators who mix traditional and emerging technologies in their practice to create signature performative work. Candidates must have teaching experience and be able to enhance our core curriculum, especially within the following emerging areas: music, performance, computer-generated arts and animation, web-based media, fabrication, visual art, and graphic design. Additionally, faculty must be able to design and teach electives that meet the needs of our students by providing experimental platforms for exploring new ideas and connections between traditional disciplines. Faculty must show evidence of and be committed to equity-forward teaching practices while recognizing and embracing the values of inclusivity and diversity in curricular design, the classroom, and their professional field. Our ideal candidates will possess a broad range of demonstrable technical proficiency in their areas of expertise and show continued achievement in their professional and artistic work as members of faculty. Duties: Full-time faculty are expected to show continued achievement in their professional and artistic work. Professional work that crosses disciplines is expected and valued. In keeping with one of the founding principles of the Tisch School of the Arts, we believe that our students are inspired most by learning from working artists. Faculty teach five courses per year, assist in the advisement and mentoring of students, participate in departmental and school-wide committees and meetings, facilitate and lead departmental events, workshops, labs and student showcases.
